What you actually get

italki is a marketplace of independent tutors, not a fixed course. For Ukrainian, italki runs a dedicated Instant Lessons page — find a teacher and start a lesson immediately, no scheduling dance. Standard 1-on-1 lessons work the usual way: browse profiles, watch intro videos, book the tutor you like. Both tiers exist platform-wide: Professional Teachers with verified experience and qualifications, and Community Tutors for relaxed conversation practice. italki covers 150+ languages with the same model — 1-on-1 lessons, Group Classes, free practice tools, no subscription, pay as you go — and teachers set their own prices.

One honest note on pricing: we could verify from italki.com that Ukrainian lessons follow the standard pay-per-lesson model, but exact Ukrainian price ranges were not readable from the official listing pages in this check. Treat any specific dollar figure you see quoted elsewhere for Ukrainian tutors as approximate — teachers set their own rates, and the cheapest reliable step is a trial lesson. Instant Lessons: the fastest start

Instant Lessons are italki's answer to "I want to practice now." Pick an available Ukrainian teacher and begin within minutes. The trade-off, stated in italki's own FAQ: Instant Lessons cannot be canceled or rescheduled — so only book one when you are actually ready to talk. For planned study, regular scheduled lessons keep the normal cancellation rules.

Who it is for — and the honest limit

Ukrainian tutors on italki fit heritage learners, diaspora families, volunteers, and professionals who need living language, not textbook drills. Instant Lessons fit impatient beginners; scheduled lessons fit steady learners.

The honest limit: italki credits are final — no cash refunds. Cancel a scheduled lesson 24+ hours ahead and credits return to your Student Wallet; Instant Lessons are final once booked. So the rule holds: trial first, package later. Find a Ukrainian tutor on italki and start with one low-cost lesson.
